NEW YORK — The New York City Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying a man wanted in connection with an attempted rape in Greenwich Village early Sunday morning.
At approximately 1:25 a.m. on September 15, 2024, a 29-year-old woman was walking near Joseph P. Ward Street and Washington Street when an unknown man approached her, pushed her to the ground, and attempted to rape her, police said. The suspect fled on foot after the attack.
The victim was transported by EMS to Lenox Health Greenwich Village Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition.
The suspect is described as a male with a dark complexion. He was last seen shirtless, wearing black pants and black sneakers.
The NYPD’s Manhattan Special Victims Squad is investigating the incident. Police are urging anyone with information to contact them.
