IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. — Police have arrested a 34-year-old man in connection with the brutal killing of a family of four in Irondequoit, New York, a town near Lake Ontario. Authorities believe more individuals may have been involved in the homicides.
Julio Cesar Pimentel-Soriano, originally from the Dominican Republic, has been charged in the case. He is also wanted in the Dominican Republic for a separate 2019 murder. The arrest follows a fire that broke out at the victims’ home on Knapp Avenue on Aug. 31, where police discovered the bodies in the basement.
The victims were identified as Marangely Moreno-Santiago, 26, Fraime Ubaldo, 30, and their two children, Evangeline, 4, and Sebastian, 2. The investigation has been ongoing since first responders were called to the scene at around 5:23 a.m. The grim discovery and complexity of the crime scene required nearly two days for processing, according to Police Chief Scott Peters.
Limited information was initially released to the public as authorities worked to notify the victims’ relatives, some of whom live in other states. The investigation into possible additional suspects continues.
