CUMBERLAND, Md. — A Cumberland man was arrested early Thursday morning after allegedly causing a disturbance at a business on Willowbrook Road, police said.
The Cumberland Police Department responded to a trespassing complaint around 5:37 a.m. at a business located in the 12000 block of Willowbrook Road. Upon arrival, officers spoke with staff who reported that Douglas Bradley Hamilton, 35, was intoxicated and behaving erratically inside the business. According to the police report, Hamilton had been asked to leave the property multiple times but refused to cooperate.
Staff at the scene told officers that Hamilton’s behavior was disruptive, and he became increasingly irate as the situation progressed. Despite repeated requests to leave, Hamilton continued to create a disturbance, which led employees to contact police. Officers determined that Hamilton was acting in a disorderly manner and creating a public disturbance, leading to his arrest.
The charges against Hamilton include disorderly conduct, failure to obey a lawful order, disturbance to the public peace, intoxicated disturbance, and trespassing. Following his arrest, Hamilton was transported to the police station and later taken before a District Court Commissioner for an initial hearing.
Police said Hamilton was released after posting a $1,500 bond. He is awaiting a court appearance for the charges. No injuries were reported in connection with the incident, and no additional details about the nature of the disturbance have been made public at this time.
The Cumberland Police Department has not released any information about a possible motive behind the incident. Hamilton’s trial date has not yet been scheduled.
The business on Willowbrook Road was not identified in the police report, but occurred near the Center for Help and Healing.
