SYKESVILLE, Md. — A Carroll County Orioles fan won a $97,840 progressive jackpot on a FAST PLAY Home Run Riches Bases Loaded ticket, thanks to his lucky number, 35. The man, who goes by the alias “Keldon Franklin,” purchased the winning ticket at a High’s convenience store in Sykesville.
“Keldon Franklin” and his girlfriend, both longtime Orioles fans, were checking the ticket’s numbers at home when they spotted the winning match. “He got to 35 before I did and yelled ‘Progressive!’” his girlfriend recalled.
A dedicated Orioles fan since the days of Memorial Stadium, “Keldon Franklin” celebrated by wearing his Adley Rutschman jersey with the number 35 to Lottery headquarters. He noted that his favorite number, 5, has always been lucky for him, a nod to Orioles legend Brooks Robinson.
The winner plans to save his windfall. High’s, located at 6700 Sykesville Road, will receive a $978.40 bonus for selling the jackpot-winning ticket.
There are still 10 unclaimed progressive jackpot-winning tickets for the Home Run Riches Bases Loaded game. The progressive jackpot starts at $40,000 and increases with each ticket sale until the next big winner is drawn.
