DEALE, Md. — A Southern Maryland landscaper received a surprise $50,000 birthday gift after purchasing a Money Money Money scratch-off at a High’s convenience store in Anne Arundel County. The lucky player, from Anne Arundel County, bought the $5 scratch-off on a whim while fueling up between jobs.
“I took my $5 change and put it in the machine,” said the winner, who decided to try his luck after seeing a friend buy tickets. The landscaper scratched off the ticket in his vehicle and was shocked to reveal a “coin” symbol, winning the top prize of $50,000.
“I saw a five and thought it was $50,” he recalled. “But then, I saw a comma and more and more zeros.” After realizing his big win, he quickly shared the news with close family and safely stored the winning ticket.
The lucky player plans to save most of his winnings and use part of the prize for a vacation he had already planned. He called the $50,000 win an “awesome birthday gift.”
The winning ticket was sold at High’s, located at 5761 Deale Churchton Road, which will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery. Two more $50,000 top prizes remain in the Money Money Money game.
