ROCKAWAY, N.J. – A Rockaway man has been arrested on multiple charges related to a drug and firearm distribution scheme, officials said on Wednesday. Santiago J. Escobar, 32, of Rockaway Borough, was taken into custody after an investigation revealed his involvement in distributing cocaine and a handgun in the area.
According to the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, the investigation spanned from April 24, 2024, to August 21, 2024. During that period, Escobar allegedly distributed more than five ounces of cocaine, a Taurus handgun, and hollow nose bullets. On September 3, law enforcement seized 100 grams of cocaine, several pounds of marijuana, over $1,000 in suspected drug proceeds, and distribution materials, including scales and baggies.
Escobar faces numerous charges, including possession with intent to distribute more than five ounces of cocaine, conspiracy to distribute cocaine, unlawful possession of a handgun, and unlawful sale of hollow nose bullets. “Our effective efforts to combat narcotics distribution are reflected in this arrest,” said Acting Morris County Prosecutor Bradford Seabury.
Escobar has also been charged with multiple counts of possessing and distributing cocaine, possession of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia with intent to distribute, along with money laundering. Authorities did not specify Escobar’s court appearance date.
