CINCINNATI — An Ohio woman is in custody after allegedly shooting two women during an argument earlier this summer, one of whom later died from her injuries. The incident occurred in the Avondale neighborhood of Cincinnati, and the suspect, Akira Fletcher, 23, is facing a charge of aggravated murder, according to records from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
Fletcher was arrested on Aug. 31, just one day after posting videos on Facebook that appear to document parts of the violent altercation that took place on July 12. In her social media post, Fletcher claimed that she had called 911 twice during the incident, alleging she had been assaulted and harassed by the victims before the shooting.
“This is what happened July 12th, there’s two 911 calls of me asking for them to please send somebody,” Fletcher wrote in her post. “I was being punched in my face, rocks thrown at me, and Nyema trying to get in my car.”
The woman mentioned as “Nyema” in the post is believed to be Nyema Norton, 29, one of the two victims. Norton later died from her injuries after spending six weeks in the hospital. The second woman survived the shooting.
The case remains under investigation.
