MINDEN, La. — A 10-year-old boy in Louisiana has confessed to fatally shooting his 82-year-old relative, former Minden mayor Joe Cornelius Sr., and his 31-year-old daughter, Keisha Miles, following an argument about video games, according to local authorities.
The incident occurred early Sunday morning, September 1, inside a residence on Austin Street in Minden, a small city known for its historic red-brick downtown, located approximately 30 miles east of Shreveport. Minden Police responded to the scene around 6:30 a.m. after receiving a call about two bodies found inside the home.
Neighbors reported hearing gunfire before police arrived. “About eight gunshots,” one neighbor told KSLA, a Shreveport-based CBS affiliate. “Pow, pow, pow and then pow, pow, pow, pow.”
When officers entered the residence, they discovered Cornelius and Miles dead, both having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
The 10-year-old boy, whose identity has not been disclosed due to his age, was reportedly brought to law enforcement by his guardian, where he admitted to the killings. Authorities have confirmed that the boy is related to both victims.
The investigation into the tragic incident is ongoing.
