WEST HOMESTEAD, Pa. — The Allegheny County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating the discovery of a deceased woman in the Monongahela River near the Sandcastle water park.
Authorities were alerted to the situation at 1:34 p.m. on Thursday when a call was made to County 9-1-1, reporting the presence of the body in the water.
City of Pittsburgh River Rescue responded swiftly, recovering the body of the adult female from the river. As of now, detectives are in the early stages of the investigation.
Preliminary findings do not suggest any obvious signs of foul play, though the investigation remains ongoing.
The identity of the woman has not yet been released. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to confirm the identification and determine the cause of death.
