UTICA, N.Y. — On August 23, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Utica Police were dispatched to the Hannaford Plaza on Mohawk Street following a report of an individual with an outstanding warrant who had also just committed a larceny in one of the stores.
After conducting a search of the area, officers located the suspect, identified as 38-year-old Kevin Robinson of Utica, riding a bicycle near James Street and Miller Street. When officers attempted to stop him, Robinson continued to flee on his bicycle until reaching Tracy Street, where the pursuit came to an end.
The chase concluded when Robinson collided with an officer, causing both to fall to the ground. Robinson was then taken into custody. The officer involved sustained injuries to his hand and was exposed to bodily fluids from the suspect, requiring medical treatment at Wynn Hospital.
Robinson was transported to the Utica Police Department and has been charged with multiple offenses, including Assault in the Second Degree, Resisting Arrest, Petit Larceny, as well as several New York State Vehicle & Traffic Law violations. Additionally, Robinson was taken in on an outstanding warrant.
