BALTIMORE, MD— The Baltimore Police Department has arrested 51-year-old Johnnie Teague, the guardian of 16-year-old Jibreal Payne, in connection with the teenager’s death. A warrant for Teague’s arrest was approved on August 27th, and he was taken into custody without incident the following day at his home on the 400 block of North Clinton Street.
Teague has been charged with first-degree murder after the Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Payne’s death, which occurred on January 27, was the result of injuries sustained that day.
Despite life-saving efforts, Payne was pronounced dead after being transported to Johns Hopkins Hospital. Burn marks were observed on his body, leading to an investigation that has now culminated in Teague’s arrest.
