Chesapeake, VA — The Chesapeake Police Department is investigating a fatal collision that occurred early Thursday morning at the intersection of Fentress Airfield Road and Blackwater Road.
At approximately 5:55 a.m. on August 29, 2024, officers responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a minivan and a small SUV. According to the initial investigation, the minivan was traveling westbound on Blackwater Road when it entered the intersection and was struck by the SUV, which was heading northbound on Fentress Airfield Road.
The driver of the minivan, an adult male, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV, also an adult male, was uninjured and remained at the scene following the crash.
The Chesapeake Police Crash Reconstruction Team is currently investigating the incident. The identity of the deceased driver will be released once next of kin have been notified.
