COLUMBIA, Md. — Howard County police are intensifying their search for a 17-year-old suspect wanted in connection with the July 27 fatal shooting at The Mall in Columbia. Authorities have identified the suspect as William Marshall III, also known as “Junior,” of Columbia. Marshall is wanted on charges of first-degree murder and related offenses following the death of 17-year-old Angelo Little.
Police allege that Marshall specifically targeted Little, who was pronounced dead at the scene. While investigators believe the two teens knew each other, the motive behind the shooting remains unclear.
On August 5, police released surveillance footage showing Marshall’s movements through the mall before and after the shooting. This led detectives to identify him as the suspect, and a warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest. Despite an extensive search involving the review of digital evidence, surveillance, and assistance from federal partners, police have been unable to locate Marshall.
Marshall, a student at Oakland Mills High School, has not attended classes this year, and detectives suspect he may have left the area. Due to the severity of the crime and the ongoing risk to public safety, police are offering an increased reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to his arrest.
Under Maryland law, juvenile suspects’ identities are typically withheld, even when charged as adults. However, an exception allows for public identification when it is necessary to facilitate apprehension and ensure public safety. Given that Marshall’s whereabouts remain unknown and he is considered a potential threat, Howard County police have taken the step of releasing his identity.
Anyone with information about Marshall’s location is urged to contact Howard County police immediately.
