WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — A Kingston man was taken into custody by Wilkes-Barre City Police on Tuesday morning after being identified as a fugitive from justice. Tracy Butler, 58, was apprehended on South Wilkes-Barre Boulevard at approximately 9:37 a.m. after officers on patrol recognized him as having an active warrant for his arrest.
The warrant was issued by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia, though details regarding the underlying charges have not been disclosed. According to Wilkes-Barre City Police, officers made contact with Butler near 33 South Wilkes-Barre Boulevard and confirmed the warrant before taking him into custody.
Butler is currently being held for arraignment, pending further proceedings regarding his extradition to Georgia. The arrest highlights the ongoing cooperation between local and out-of-state law enforcement agencies in apprehending individuals wanted for criminal activities across state lines.
