RUMSON, N.J. — A 75-year-old man from Florida was arrested Thursday night after allegedly pulling a knife on a restaurant patron and assaulting a manager at the Red Horse by David Burke in Rumson, according to authorities.
David Gulley, a resident of Palm Beach Shores, Florida, faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, terroristic threats, disorderly conduct, and simple assault, Rumson Police Lieutenant Christopher Isherwood said.
The incident unfolded around 8:30 p.m. when police received calls reporting a man brandishing a knife inside the restaurant. Upon arriving at the scene, officers observed Gulley striking the restaurant’s manager in the side.
Witnesses and video footage confirmed that Gulley had “brandished a steak knife and lunged” at another patron prior to the assault on the manager, police said.
Gulley was taken into custody without further incident. The motive behind the altercation remains unclear as the investigation continues.
