WASHINGTON, D.C. — The death of a 1-year-old child in Southeast D.C. is being investigated as a homicide, according to the D.C. Metro Police Department.
Officers responded to a residence in the 1800 block of 18th Street, Southeast, on Thursday, August 22, at approximately 11:28 p.m., after receiving a report of an unconscious child. The child, identified as Jordan Ballard of Southeast D.C., was transported by D.C. Fire and EMS to a nearby hospital and admitted in critical condition. Despite all lifesaving efforts, the child was pronounced dead.
On Friday, August 23, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia determined that Jordan Ballard suffered multiple blunt force injuries, and the manner of death was ruled a homicide.
