HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — A Huntersville police officer was injured early Saturday morning when a suspect struck them with a vehicle during a response to a domestic disturbance.
The incident occurred around 1:15 a.m. in the 14500 block of Cordial Lane. Officers from the Huntersville Police Department were called to the scene following reports of a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the complainant, who informed them that the suspect, identified as Amanda Nicole Benton, 44, of Huntersville, was in her vehicle in the parking lot.
As officers approached the vehicle, Benton accelerated and struck one of the officers. The extent of the officer’s injuries has not been disclosed.
The investigation remained active throughout the morning in the area of Cordial Lane and Merry Chase Lane as police gathered evidence and worked to determine the circumstances leading to the incident.
