FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — Nicholas Giampa, a Virginia man awaiting trial for the 2017 murders of his girlfriend’s parents, was found dead early Thursday in his Fairfax County jail cell. Giampa, 24, had been incarcerated since 2018, charged with the fatal shootings of Scott Fricker, 48, and Buckley Kuhn-Fricker, 43, in their Virginia home.
Fairfax County police are investigating Giampa’s death but preliminarily do not suspect foul play. The case gained national attention due to Giampa’s neo-Nazi affiliations and the circumstances surrounding the murders. Giampa and the Kuhn-Frickers’ daughter had reportedly formed a suicide pact after her family forbade their relationship, which escalated into the fatal encounter.
At the time of the killings, Giampa, then 17, entered the home with a security code provided by the daughter and shot the couple after they discovered him in her bedroom. Giampa then attempted suicide but survived the self-inflicted gunshot wound, which left him with significant brain damage.
His trial, postponed multiple times, was scheduled for January.
