MT. RAINIER, MD — A devoted Mega Millions player from Prince George’s County recently visited Maryland Lottery headquarters to claim a $30,000 prize from a mid-July drawing, marking his second significant win with the multistate jackpot game.
The federal employee, who regularly purchases tickets for Powerball, Mega Millions, and Multi-Match drawings, previously won $40,000 in the same game two years ago. His latest win came from a $3 quick-pick ticket purchased on July 19, where adding the Megaplier tripled his initial $10,000 prize.
The winner, who checks his tickets in batches, only discovered his windfall this week after scanning a month’s worth of tickets. He plans to add the $30,000 to his retirement fund, further cementing Mega Millions as his favorite lottery game.
The winning ticket was bought at Party Time Liquors on Rhode Island Avenue in Mt. Rainier, which now holds a special place in the player’s lottery routine. “Who knows, I’ve won twice now, maybe the third time will be the jackpot,” he said.
