NEWARK, NJ — The Newark Department of Public Safety has issued a traffic advisory for Sunday, September 1, 2024, in connection with the city’s Dominican Day Festival and Parade. Several streets will be closed to accommodate the events, which will take place throughout the day.
Parade Street Closures (6 a.m. to 2 p.m.):
- Broadway between Bloomfield Avenue and Broad Street
- Crane Street between Broadway and Broad Street
- Clark Street between Broadway and Broad Street
- Bloomfield Place between Broad Street and Bloomfield Avenue
Festival Street Closures (6 a.m. to 11 p.m.):
- Bloomfield Avenue between Lake Street and Broadway
- Parker Street between 2nd Avenue and Park Avenue
- Ridge Street between 2nd Avenue and Park Avenue
- Highland Avenue between 2nd Avenue and Park Avenue
The parade will take place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. along Bloomfield Avenue between Broadway and Lake Street. The festival will begin at 1 p.m. and continue until 10 p.m. on Bloomfield Avenue between Lake Street and Clifton Avenue.
Event Guidelines:
- Bicycles, scooters, and e-scooters are prohibited within the festival and parade areas.
- Backpacks, bags, coolers, and carriages may be subject to search.
- Alcohol is not permitted.
