MOUNT HOLLY, N.J. — A 29-year-old man has been sentenced to 90 years in prison for the fatal beating of a man inside a Beverly City residence in 2022, the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office announced.
Larry Brown, who must serve 73 years before becoming eligible for parole, received the sentence yesterday in Superior Court in Mount Holly from Judge Gerard H. Breland. Brown was convicted by a jury in March of multiple charges, including the murder of 34-year-old Cecilio Luciano, as well as charges related to a standoff with law enforcement.
The incident occurred on June 14, 2022, when Beverly City Police responded to reports that Brown had killed Luciano inside a home on Bentley Avenue and was barricaded inside with a woman and four children. Despite initial resistance, Brown surrendered to authorities after several hours, and the hostages were released unharmed. When officers entered the residence, they discovered Luciano’s body.
Luciano, a resident of Highland Park, had been bludgeoned to death with a baseball bat, according to an autopsy conducted by Burlington County Medical Examiner Dr. Ian Hood.
In addition to the murder charge, Brown was convicted of five counts of Kidnapping, Unlawful Possession of a Handgun, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, Certain Persons Not to Have Weapons, Making Terroristic Threats, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw emphasized the severity of Brown’s crimes and expressed gratitude for the work of law enforcement and prosecutors in bringing him to justice.
