UTICA, N.Y., — The Utica Police Department is currently investigating two separate incidents of shots fired that occurred over the weekend in different areas of the city. Both incidents involved bullets striking residences, though no injuries have been reported.
The first incident took place on August 18, 2024, at approximately 4:00 a.m. on the 1400 block of Seymour Avenue. Several shots were fired, with one round penetrating a nearby residence. Officers responding to the scene discovered six spent casings on the 1300 block of Dudley Avenue, indicating the possible location of the shooter.
The second incident occurred the following morning on August 19, 2024, at approximately 4:45 a.m. Units were dispatched to the 1200 block of Schuyler Street after a round entered a front window of a residence. Officers conducting a canvas of the area located two spent casings in front of the house.
Both investigations have been assigned to the Gun Involved Violence Elimination (GIVE) Unit. Authorities are asking anyone with information related to either incident to contact the GIVE Unit at 315-223-3510.
