FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — The Fort Lauderdale Police Department is actively investigating a homicide that occurred early Saturday morning, August 17, 2024, in the 600 block of NW 62nd Street. The incident left one person dead and three others hospitalized.
According to the police, officers responded to the scene at approximately 5:05 a.m. after receiving reports of a shooting in the area. Upon arrival, law enforcement and Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue discovered three adult male victims inside a vehicle, all suffering from gunshot wounds. The victims were immediately transported to Broward Health Medical Center.
One of the victims, identified as 18-year-old Marion Harrison, was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
The identities of the other three victims are being withheld in accordance with Florida State Statute. Two of the surviving victims remain hospitalized, while the third, who was not struck by gunfire, was also taken to the hospital as a precaution.
The Fort Lauderdale Police Department’s Homicide Unit is leading the investigation.
