WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Authorities are investigating an aggravated assault that occurred in the early hours of Saturday, August 17, 2024, near the intersection of Daniel Stuart Square and Opitz Boulevard. The incident, which took place around 2:30 a.m., involved a 65-year-old man who was attacked with a machete-style knife.
According to the investigation, the victim and an unknown man were engaged in a verbal altercation that quickly escalated. During the confrontation, the suspect exited a vehicle while brandishing a machete-style knife and struck the victim in the arm before fleeing the scene.
The victim later sought treatment at a local hospital, where the police were contacted.
The suspect has been described as a male with short hair driving a light blue Chevy sports car. The police are actively investigating the incident and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
