GLOUCESTER CITY, N.J. — A high-speed police chase through Camden County ended in a serious crash Saturday night, leaving three people injured, including two young children, and resulting in the arrest of a 32-year-old man.
The incident began when Deptford Police officers attempted to stop a stolen white sedan driven by Joshua Chrismon, who allegedly refused to pull over, instead leading officers on a dangerous chase. The pursuit ended violently when Chrismon blew through a stop sign and crashed into a dark-colored car at high speed, according to officials from the Gloucester City Police Department.
The force of the collision sent the dark-colored car, which was carrying three occupants, including an 8-year-old and a 7-year-old, careening into the front of a home on the 500 block of Morris Street in Gloucester City. The crash was captured on a Ring video camera belonging to a nearby resident, Jennifer Walker, who expressed shock at how the situation escalated. “It’s a stolen car from Deptford, how does it go that far without him getting stopped? I don’t know,” Walker said.
Following the crash, Chrismon attempted to flee the scene on foot but was quickly apprehended and arrested by pursuing officers.
The injured children and the driver of the dark-colored car were treated for their injuries, though their conditions have not been released. The extent of the damage to the home is also being assessed.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident, and Chrismon is expected to face multiple charges related to the theft, chase, and crash.
This event has raised concerns in the community about the dangers of high-speed pursuits, especially when they occur in residential areas.
