NEW CASTLE, Del. — Delaware State Police are investigating an early morning shooting on Friday that left a 16-year-old injured. The incident occurred near the intersection of Christiana Road and Pleasant Place in New Castle.
At approximately 12:20 a.m. on August 16, 2024, troopers responded to a report of a shooting at the McDonald’s located at 101 South Dupont Highway. The investigation revealed that a vehicle traveling westbound on Christiana Road made a U-turn at the Pleasant Place intersection. As the car completed the turn, the occupants noticed two unknown black males wearing dark clothing at the intersection. One of the suspects fired several shots at the vehicle, striking the 16-year-old passenger in the thigh.
The victims immediately drove to the nearby McDonald’s and called 9-1-1. The injured teenager was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle, a 51-year-old man, was not harmed in the incident.
The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Criminal Investigations Unit is leading the investigation. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact Detective M.
