TEANECK, NJ – A homicide investigation is in progress following a fatal shooting at a private residence on Hickory Street in Teaneck. The incident occurred on Thursday at approximately 8:25 AM.
Authorities reported that a 26-year-old woman was shot and subsequently transported to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, along with the Teaneck Police Department and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department, are actively investigating the scene. Support from the Bogota Police Department was also enlisted through a mutual aid response.
Chief Matthew Finck of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and Teaneck Police Chief Andrew McGurr are overseeing the investigation.
While further details are pending as detectives continue their inquiries and notify the victim’s next of kin, officials have assured the public that there is no ongoing danger to the community. More information will be released as the investigation progresses.
