NEWARK, NJ — The Newark Public Safety Department is calling for public assistance to identify suspects involved in an armed robbery on Friday, August 9.
The incident occurred around 10 PM, when police were alerted to an armed robbery outside a business located in the 200 block of Lyons Avenue. The victim, who had just exited the store, was confronted by several males. These individuals, who were also inside the business moments earlier, surrounded the victim and forcibly demanded he change the Face ID on his cell phone. During the encounter, one of the suspects revealed a handgun tucked into his waistband, intimidating the victim into compliance. The group then left the scene with the victim’s cell phone, heading eastbound on Lyons Avenue from Clinton Place.
The Newark Police Department provided descriptions of three suspects:
- Suspect #1: A Black male, seen wearing a black sweater with green designs and gray pants, who displayed the handgun.
- Suspect #2: A Black male, dressed in a black sweater with a red design and dark-colored pants.
- Suspect #3: A Black male, wearing a blue and black sweater and dark-colored pants.
