BRONX, NY — Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark has announced the indictment of a Manhattan man, Frank Blackshear, on charges including Grand Larceny and Falsifying Business Records. Blackshear is accused of deceitfully taking ownership of his wife’s grandfather’s home while the elderly man was residing in a nursing home.
The 89-year-old victim, Milton Roberts, who is now 91, was placed in Kings Harbor MultiCare Facility in August 2022 due to health issues. During his stay there, Blackshear allegedly manipulated legal documents to transfer ownership of Roberts’ home at 331 Taylor Avenue in the Soundview section of the Bronx, valued at $698,000, to himself under the guise of the Blackshear Living Trust.
District Attorney Clark expressed her disdain for the actions, noting Blackshear’s exploitation of a vulnerable family member. “The defendant allegedly preyed upon a vulnerable member of our community… This selfish and cruel act will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law,” she stated.
Blackshear was arraigned before Bronx Supreme Court Justice Jeffrey Zimmerman and faces charges including second-degree Grand Larceny and first-degree Offering a False Instrument for Filing. Despite the serious nature of the allegations, he was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to return to court on October 15, 2024.
