NORFOLK, VA – Teddy Breheim, a resident of Norfolk, initially thought he had won a modest $100 from his Virginia Lottery scratch-off ticket, only to discover later that the ticket was actually worth a whopping $100,000.
Breheim purchased his $326,000,000 Fortune scratcher at the Rite Aid located at 2040 Atlantic Avenue in Chesapeake. After scratching the ticket, he casually placed it in his pocket, underestimating its true value.
It wasn’t until later that he realized the ticket secured him the game’s second-largest prize. The game, identified as #2150, offers a top prize of $5 million, with one more $100,000 prize and a $5 million prize still up for grabs. The odds of landing the $5 million prize are 1 in 2,774,400, while the overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 3.43.
Virginia Lottery profits significantly benefit K-12 education in the state. Last fiscal year, Norfolk alone received over $28.2 million in Lottery funds, contributing to the $867 million raised statewide, which accounted for about 10 percent of Virginia’s total K-12 school budget.
