BECKLEY, WV – Jason Michael Tucker, a 43-year-old resident of Frankford, was sentenced today to two years in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. The sentencing occurred in the United States District Court.
Court documents reveal that on December 30, 2022, Tucker engaged in the illegal sale of a Ruger model Wrangler .22LR caliber revolver for $125. This transaction took place in Greenbrier County and involved a confidential informant. Additionally, Tucker admitted to selling a quantity of fentanyl to the same informant a few hours prior to the firearm transaction.
Federal statutes strictly prohibit individuals with felony convictions from owning firearms or ammunition. Tucker, aware of his legal restrictions due to prior convictions for drug-related offenses in 2005 and 2018, still proceeded with the firearm sale.
Tucker’s criminal history, extending over 23 years, includes other felony charges such as forgery and entering without breaking. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew D. Isabell and involved significant contributions from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Greenbrier Valley Drug and Violent Crime Task Force.
United States District Judge Frank W. Volk delivered the sentence, underscoring the coordinated effort of federal and local law enforcement agencies in addressing such violations.
