WILKES-BARRE, PA — A 37-year-old man, Junior Diaz Reyes, was arrested following an assault that occurred on Butler Street in Wilkes-Barre. The incident took place on August 9, 2024, at approximately 2:42 PM, prompting a swift response from local police officers.
According to the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department, officers were dispatched to the intersection of Butler Street and North Pennsylvania Avenue following reports of an assault. Upon arrival, they were approached by a 37-year-old female victim, also from Wilkes-Barre, who recounted the events leading to the assault.
The victim reported that she was a passenger in a vehicle stopped on Butler Street when she was confronted and subsequently attacked by Diaz Reyes. After exiting the vehicle to escape, she stated that Diaz Reyes followed and physically assaulted her. The assailant fled the scene but was apprehended by police shortly after the incident.
