BRONX, NY — The NYPD is investigating a reported sexual assault that occurred early Monday in the Bronx. A 35-year-old female was attacked while walking near the intersection of Bergen Avenue and East 149 Street at approximately 1:06 AM.
The suspect, described as a male with a dark complexion and around 6 feet tall, approached the victim asking for directions before assaulting her. He was last observed fleeing eastbound on East 149 Street towards Brook Avenue.
The victim was subsequently taken to NYC Health and Hospitals/Lincoln and is reported to be in stable condition.
The suspect was wearing a black shirt with a multicolored design, black pants, black shoes, and was carrying a dark-colored backpack. The Bronx Special Victims Squad is handling the ongoing investigation.
