CALVERT COUNTY, MD—The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office has issued a warning to residents due to severe flooding affecting the area. Multiple roads have been closed to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic as a safety precaution. Authorities urge the public to adhere strictly to all signs and blockades.
Residents are advised against driving around barricades and are cautioned about the dangers of walking or driving through flooded streets. The flooding has raised concerns about floating manhole covers, which pose a significant risk of injury. Vehicles are also at risk; six inches of water can cause most passenger cars to lose control and stall, while a foot of water has the potential to float many vehicles.
