GAITHERSBURG, MD – Kelvin Lovell Hager, 18, and a 14-year-old male have been charged with multiple counts of armed carjacking following two separate incidents in Silver Spring.
The Montgomery County Police Department responded to the crimes, which occurred on the evening of February 18, 2024.
The first incident was reported around 10:05 PM in the 500 block of Thayer Avenue. Shortly after, at 10:30 PM, a second armed carjacking was reported in the 8700 block of Cameron Street. Both crimes were believed to have been committed by the same suspects.
Detectives from the Major Crimes Division of the Montgomery County Department of Police quickly identified and arrested the 14-year-old suspect involved in the Thayer Avenue carjacking. He was subsequently released to the custody of his parent or guardian.
Kelvin Lovell Hager was identified as the second suspect involved in the same incident. On May 5, while already incarcerated in Washington, D.C., on unrelated charges, an arrest warrant for Hager was issued. He was transported to Montgomery County on July 29 after waiving his extradition rights.
Both Hager and the 14-year-old have since been charged in connection with the Cameron Street carjackings, marking a significant development in the case handled by local law enforcement.
