SOMERVILLE, NJ – Yahmir Brown, a 19-year-old resident of Franklin Township, has been sentenced to five years in New Jersey State Prison for second-degree aggravated assault. The sentencing, which mandates that 85% of the term be served without parole eligibility, was handed down by the Honorable Peter J. Tober, P.J.Cr., on July 1.
The conviction stems from an incident that occurred on the eve of Thanksgiving 2022, when Brown and a juvenile co-defendant assaulted a local business employee, resulting in multiple facial fractures for the victim. A Somerset County jury found Brown guilty on May 10, following a week-long trial.
The case was a collaborative effort between the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Franklin Township Police Department. Assistant Prosecutor Rory A. Eaton, supported by Litigation Paralegal Maria Ducca, represented the State during the trial.
