MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ – Manchester Township Police are warning residents about a scam involving fake court summons letters being left on vehicles in local shopping plazas. These fraudulent letters claim to summon individuals to appear in court for parking violations and are purportedly signed by the Honorable Daniel F. Sahin.
The letters allege a parking violation under New Jersey Statutes 39:4-138z, citing that the vehicle and license plate were recorded in a fire zone, and instruct recipients to visit the Prosecutor’s Office to view a video of the incident. The Manchester Township Police Department has clarified that they do not issue subpoenas or any legal notices via vehicle letters and has confirmed that these letters are indeed a scam.
Residents receiving such letters are advised not to follow any instructions within and to report the incident to the Manchester Township Police immediately at 732-657-6111. The police urge the community to remain vigilant and to inform others about this fraudulent activity to prevent further incidents.
