BALTIMORE, MD — A routine lunch break turned extraordinary for a Prince George’s County resident who won $100,000 on a $5,000,000 Cash scratch-off ticket. The winner, who chose to be identified as “Jimmy,” claimed his prize at Maryland Lottery headquarters on July 31.
Jimmy, a lottery player for just two years, was elated and surprised by his substantial win. “I never imagined winning, and can’t process that I actually won more than a few hundred dollars,” he shared, still in disbelief.
The lucky event occurred when Jimmy stopped at King Kong Restaurant in Adelphi for lunch and decided to purchase a $5,000,000 Cash scratch-off ticket, drawn by the game’s top prize. Later that evening, he scanned his tickets and was astonished to find he had won $100,000.
Keeping his good fortune mostly a secret, Jimmy has only informed his wife and family back in Mexico. He plans to invest in his business, make home improvements, and support his family, excited about the opportunity to provide much-needed relief and support to his loved ones.
King Kong Restaurant, located at 2350 University Blvd, will also benefit from the win, receiving a $1,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
