PITTSBURGH, PA – Allegheny County Police have charged 33-year-old Amber Brooks of West Virginia following the discovery of a firearm at Pittsburgh International Airport’s main security checkpoint. The incident occurred at 10:44 AM on July 28, 2024.
Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers identified a revolver in Brooks’ backpack during routine security screening and immediately alerted the County Police. Upon investigation, authorities confirmed that Brooks did not have a valid concealed carry permit, leading to her facing a misdemeanor charge for carrying a firearm without a license. The Federal Bureau of Investigation has also been notified of the incident.
The TSA warns that passengers who bring firearms to airport security checkpoints may face federal civil fines up to $10,000, with fines for repeat offenders reaching up to $13,910. This event underscores the importance of passengers adhering to regulations regarding the transportation of firearms.
