TRENTON, NJ—Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri and Trenton Police Director Steve Wilson reported the arrest of Jozef Field, a 29-year-old Trenton resident, in connection with the fatal shooting of Stephon Fisher on May 19. The arrest, executed by the U.S. Marshals New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force, occurred at the Kingsbury Apartments on Monday.
Field faces charges including first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree attempted murder, two counts of second-degree aggravated assault, and related weapons offenses. The prosecutor’s office has moved to detain Field until his trial.
The incident unfolded around 5:52 p.m. on May 19 when Trenton police responded to a ShotSpotter alert and calls about a shooting at 2 Kingsbury Square. Upon arrival, emergency teams found two 18-year-old males with gunshot wounds outside the location.
One of the victims, Fisher, succumbed to his injuries at Capital Health Regional Medical Center shortly after the incident. The second victim, who also hails from Trenton, survived three gunshot wounds.
The investigation also identified a second suspect, Steven Key, 30, also from Trenton. Key, however, passed away on July 14 in Philadelphia before he could be apprehended.
