Hagerstown, MD – A structure fire was reported on Saturday, July 27, at 5:10 PM, at 17604 Heisterboro Road in Hagerstown, Washington County. The incident involved a single-story, single-family residence owned by Alisha and Travis Baker.
The fire caused an estimated $50,000 in property damage and $25,000 in content loss. Smoke alarms in the residence were present and activated during the incident. No fire alarms or sprinkler systems were installed.
The Volunteer Fire Company of Halfway was the primary responding fire department, with 62 firefighters responding to the scene. The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes. A neighbor discovered the fire, which originated from an exterior wall. The preliminary cause has been identified as an accidental grounding system issue.
The residents are currently receiving assistance from the American Red Cross. The investigation into the fire continues.
