NEW YORK, NY—A taxi driver was assaulted and robbed by a group of unidentified males late Thursday night. The incident occurred at the intersection of West 27th Street and 7th Avenue, where the 59-year-old driver was stopped at a red light.
According to reports, at 11:55 PM on July 18, four individuals approached the taxi. They surrounded the vehicle, kicked it, and one assailant opened the driver’s door. The driver was then punched multiple times in the face and his cellphone was stolen. The attackers fled northbound on 7th Avenue, some on foot and others on bicycles.
Emergency services responded to the scene and transported the victim to Lenox Health Greenwich Village. He was treated for minor injuries and reported in stable condition. Police are currently seeking the four male suspects involved in the attack.
