PRINCESS ANNE, MD—A tragic conclusion to a search for a missing waterman was reached Thursday afternoon when Maryland Natural Resources Police recovered the body of 58-year-old Ted Allen Briddelle from Tangier Sound, near Deal Island. Briddelle, a resident of Princess Anne, had fallen overboard from a 41-foot commercial crabbing vessel on Tuesday morning.
The recovery occurred at 4:02 PM, approximately two miles from where Briddelle was last seen. His body was located near the shoreline of a private residence, days after he was reported overboard near Mud Rock on July 23 at 8:20 AM.
Following the initial distress call, Natural Resources Police, alongside other agencies, launched a comprehensive search.
The Coast Guard suspended their search on the evening of July 23, but local efforts continued until the eventual recovery on Thursday.
The body has been sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for forensic analysis to determine the cause of death, and the investigation into the incident is still active.
