Fredericksburg, VA — A Virginia man, Joseph Alfonza Jackson, 43, of Spotsylvania, has been taken into custody after a violent incident early Wednesday morning that left two people shot and one woman run over by a car.
The incident occurred just after 1 a.m. Tuesday near Ashby Drive in Fredericksburg. Upon arriving, police discovered a man and a woman who had been shot multiple times. Both victims were transported to a local hospital and are expected to survive.
According to witnesses, Jackson arrived at a home where several people were gathered and was asked to leave but refused. An argument ensued in the front yard, during which Jackson reportedly drew a gun and shot the two victims. As he fled the scene, he ran over another woman with his car, who had also been shot.
Jackson later surrendered to police and has been charged with three counts of malicious wounding. He is currently being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
