Baltimore, MD – A local mother’s decision to play her son’s birthday numbers paid off when she won $50,000 in the Pick 5 lottery.
While not entirely sure what prompted her to buy a $1 ticket at Tollgate Exxon in Owings Mills on Sunday, she feels fortunate for the impulse. After purchasing the ticket, she went to church, unknowingly holding onto a winner.
Her son discovered the winning numbers after the midday drawing and realized they matched part of his birthdate. Unable to reach his mother while she was at church, the anticipation built until he could share the news.
Upon learning of her win, the mother, who prefers to keep a low profile, shared her excitement with only her sons and a close friend. With her winnings, she plans to pay bills and maintain secrecy about her new fortune. Tollgate Exxon will also receive a $500 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
