CRISFIELD, MD—A fire investigation has been initiated following a structure fire at an apartment building located at 531 West Main Street in Crisfield. The incident, which occurred on July 19, 2024, at approximately 7:03 PM, has been classified as arson.
The three-story building, constructed of wood and masonry, is owned by Steven Raab. The fire, originating in the laundry room, was controlled within 4 minutes by the Crisfield Volunteer Fire Department. Ten firefighters responded to the call and extinguished the fire after one alarm was sounded.
Fortunately, there were no injuries or deaths reported. The estimated damage to the contents of the building is minimal at $50, while the structure itself did not sustain any reported damage. Notably, the building was not equipped with smoke alarms or fire sprinklers.
Authorities are actively seeking information from the public to aid in the arson investigation.
