MORRISTOWN, NJ – Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie aired his sour grapes with former U.S. President Donald Trump by ripping him apart on the progressive ABC morning talk show “The View”.
Christie immediately launched an attack against the former President in the days after the failed assassination attempt on the former president.
Christie said Trump did not meet the moment.
“He is who he is,” Christie said. “I have no doubt he’s been affected by it [being shot]; he just hasn’t been changed by it. Let’s not forget it does not change fundamentally who he is. He’s 78 years old. And at that age, it is infrequent to find a 78-year-old to change the core of who they are.”
The former New Jersey governor credited Trump’s speech writing team with the new unity message but said it was all just a show. He even suggested Trump was angry about having to read a speech that he didn’t believe in while he was reading it.
“More than a third of what he said last night was adlib, and all of the adlib was back to what he does,” Christie opined. “Woe is me, but thank God, I haven’t given up for all of you. It’s just who he is. He’s not going to change. In the first fifty minutes, he was as unenergetic and unenthusiastic as I’d ever seen him. Why? Because he hated what he was saying. He hated it. But he knew he had to say it.”
Christie then lashed out against the media who covered Trump favorably, suggesting they had taken drugs.
“I wonder if every network correspondent had taken drugs,” Christie said. “He’s an actor. He’s been acting on tv for decades. He knew the camera was going to be on him. That’s the easy part for Donald Trump. That’s the easy part for Donald Trump. The media this week completely failed the American people. They bought hooks, lines, and sinker, and all of the garbage the Trump campaign leaked out to them.”
Christie, a staunch ally of Trump, has been attacking the former president since being overlooked for a position in Trump’s administration in 2016. Insiders say Trump has never respected Christie. Christie reportedly infected Trump with COVID-19 during a debate preparation in 2020 at Trump’s Bedminster, New Jersey home. Christie said it was Trump who infected him.
Christie ran an extremely failed campaign for President last year, eventually dropping out after being nearly last in most polls, finding no traction for his anti-Trump-focused platform.
