MONROE TOWNSHIP, NJ – A serious traffic collision involving a motorcycle and an SUV occurred at the intersection of Route 33 and Applegarth Road in Monroe Township on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at approximately 11:00 AM. Monroe Township Police, Fire Department, and EMS were dispatched to the scene following multiple 911 calls about the accident.
Upon arrival, responders found a 2023 Harley Davidson motorcycle and a 2024 Ford Expedition involved in the crash. The motorcyclist, a 74-year-old male from Monroe Township, was discovered lying in the intersection with injuries to his head, leg, and arm. He was quickly transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick for treatment, accompanied by paramedics.
The driver of the Ford Expedition, a 58-year-old from Virginia, sustained a minor hand injury during the incident and was taken to Centra State Hospital in Freehold Township for medical attention.
The Monroe Township Police Department is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision to determine the cause and any contributing factors. The community is urged to seek alternative routes while the investigation is ongoing and the area remains impacted by the incident.
