New Jersey Convressman Tom Malinowski has publicly criticized a senior House Democrat’s resignation to the prospect of a second Trump presidency.
In a tweet, Malinowski expressed that such resignation is neither justified nor acceptable, emphasizing that Democrats have multiple strategic paths to consider and should unite around the most effective one to win.
The comment from the unnamed senior House Democrat, reported by Axios and highlighted by Jake Tapper, stated, “We’ve all resigned ourselves to a second Trump presidency,” sparking controversy and calls for a proactive approach within the Democratic Party. Malinowski’s response highlights a call for leadership and unity in opposition to this defeatist stance.
Malinowski has been a staunch supporter of Joe Biden.
“I’m still proud to have been the first NJ member of Congress to endorse Joe Biden in 2020. He’s been a uniquely successful president. Today, he can go down in history as the man who saved America from Trump twice – first by running four years ago, then by passing the torch,” he said.
Prior to the assassination attempt on Trump, Malinowski was a key figure posting anti-Trump rhetoric on social media. He has not eased up since the attempt.
