Pinder, a Professor of Teaching at the university’s MEDD 411 (Foundations of Medical Practice I) and Director of Histology in Medical Undergraduate Education, posted: “Damn, so close. Too Bad. What a glorious day this could have been.” These remarks sparked immediate controversy, leading to her decision to withdraw from social media platforms.
With an extensive academic background, including a B.Sc. in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Guelph, a Ph.D. in Anatomy & Cell Biology from the University of Cape Town, and a post-doctoral fellowship in Viral Oncology at Johns Hopkins University, Pinder’s comments have surprised many in the academic community and beyond.
